A brochure can be used for a wide variety of business purposes from a company overview to specifications on a particular product or service you offer, and can be any size and shape you would like.
Standard brochures are usually made from 8.5" x 11" paper and folded in thirds to fit in a regular business envelope, but many other options exist to make your brochure stand out. Consider making a larger or smaller brochure to fit the information; 8.5" x 14" paper can be folded in fourths to fit in a regular business envelope, or use only 2 panels of a tri-fold size and you'll have room to make your printing bleed off the finished piece.
A brochure folded in thirds is usually folded like this: (called letter fold) and requires that one panel (the one that gets folded in first) be smaller than the others by about 1/8". The other two panels would be the same size. Link to our sample layout for this brochure here. (template)
Trifold brochures can also be folded like this: (called Z fold) which allows all three panels to be exactly the same size. Be careful, though, if you plan to mail this without an envelope, you'll have to seal both sides so they don't come open in the mail. Link to our sample layout for this brochure here. (template)
As always, a little planning goes a long way. Organize your information and decide which parts are most important before laying out your brochure. Photos, graphs and drawings enhance an otherwise monotonous brochure and can help readers understand as well as draw their interest. Remember that some panels will be seen alone, while others are visible together. This can help you transition information from one part of the brochure to another.
Make sure that your brochure has all the contact information your customer will need to place their order, or reach you with questions.
